Visa Overview

The Italy Short-Term Schengen Visa (Type C) allows Filipino travelers to visit Italy and other Schengen member states for tourism, business, family visits, and other short-stay purposes. This visa grants access to all 26 Schengen countries.

 

Processing Time Notice: The current processing time is approximately 40-45 calendar days. Please plan your application accordingly.

Visa Details

Visa Type: Short-Term Schengen Visa (Type C)
Purpose of Travel: Tourism
Validity: Up to 90 days within 180-day period

Application Form

  • Completed Schengen Visa Application form
  • Signed by applicant
  • For minors: Both parents must sign the application form

Photo Requirements

  • Size: 35mm x 45mm (passport-size)
  • White background
  • Present, same image and likeness

Your cover letter must include:

  • Travel dates to Italy
  • Purpose of travel explanation
  • Names of companions traveling with you
  • Day-to-day itinerary
  • Brief description of your means of income
  • Your travel history
  • Valid passport with 6 months validity from end of intended stay
  • Must contain at least 2 empty pages
  • Previous passports (latest 2 old passports)
  • Photocopy of bio page, previous visas, and immigration stamps from current and at least 2 old passports

Proof of Personal Economic Means

  • Original bank certificate from commercial bank with 6-month statements
  • Business/savings accounts may be submitted in addition
  • If full name not on business account: letter from bank manager confirming signing powers

If Sponsored

  • Original notarized Affidavit of Support (issued within 1 month)
  • Sponsor’s valid passport copy
  • Sponsor’s bank certificate with 6-month statements (issued within 1 week)
  • Proof of relationship (PSA)

For Employees

  • Original Certificate of Employment (date of recruitment, compensation, position)
  • Original Employment Letter with HR stamp confirming leave approval
  • Copy of recent Individual Income Tax Return (ITR)

For Self-Employed / Business Owners

  • DTI/SEC Business Registration
  • Latest GIS (for corporate business)
  • Updated Mayor’s Permit
  • Business Financial Statement (at least 6 months)
  • Individual Income Tax Return (ITR)
  • Certificate of Registration (COR)

For Students

  • School Certification + Student ID
  • If traveling during academic year: Letter from school authorizing absence
  • Detailed Day-to-Day Itinerary – For entire stay with destinations and dates
  • Confirmed Flight Booking – With travel dates and booking reference showing entry/exit from Schengen
  • Interstate Booking – If traveling to other Schengen states
  • Minimum coverage of €30,000
  • Must have 15 days allowance beyond travel period
  • Valid throughout Schengen area
  • Coverage for emergency hospitalization and repatriation
  • Must be from accredited insurance companies (see list)

If Staying with Family/Friends (Invitation Letter)

The invitation letter should include:

  • Inviter’s Information: Full name, address, contact, relationship, Italian ID/permit
  • Invitee’s Information: Full name, DOB, nationality, passport details
  • Visit Details: Purpose, duration, accommodation details
  • Financial Responsibility: Statement if inviter is providing support
  • Letter should be in Italian, preferably on letterhead, with signature and date

  • If Single: PSA Birth Certificate
  • If Married: PSA Birth Certificate + Marriage Certificate
  • If Widowed: PSA Birth Certificate + Marriage Certificate + Death Certificate of spouse
  1. Determine visa type – Confirm you need a Short-Term Schengen visa
  2. Schedule appointment – Fill up application form, submit passport bio page copy, latest Schengen visa (if applicable), and pay visa fee
  3. Prepare requirements – Submit documents at least 2 weeks before appointment
  4. Attend biometrics appointment – Submit documents at Italian VFS Manila
  5. Wait for processing – 40-45 calendar days

  • Residency Rule: Applicants with Philippine passports who hold temporary or permanent resident permits in other countries (US Green Card, work permit, student visa) must apply in the country where they normally reside most of the year.
  • Bank Certificates: Only bank certificates issued by commercial banks in the Philippines are accepted.
  • Non-Refundable: The visa fee is NOT refunded if your visa application is refused.
