Visa Overview

The Spain Short-Term Schengen Visa (Type C) allows Filipino travelers to visit Spain and other Schengen member states for tourism, family visits, business, and other short-stay purposes up to 90 days within a 180-day period.

Visa Details

Visa Type: Short-Term Schengen (Type C)
Purpose: Tourism / Family Visit
Validity: Up to 90 days within 180-day period
Processing: 5-10 working days

Long Brown Envelope Required
Write the following in bold letters on the upper left corner using a marker:

  • Applicant’s Surname and Name
  • Contact Number
  • Email Address
  • Valid passport with at least 6 months validity from end of intended stay
  • Must contain at least 2 empty pages
  • Previous passports (latest 2 old passports)
  • Photocopies of bio page, previous visas, and immigration stamps
  • Signed Schengen Visa Application Form – 1 set original + 1 set photocopy
  • Passport Photo – 35mm x 45mm, white background, recent likeness

Your cover letter must include:

  • Travel dates to Spain
  • Purpose of travel explanation
  • Names of companions travelling with you
  • Day-to-day itinerary
  • Personal Bank Certificate – Issued 1 week prior to application date
  • Bank Statements – Last 6 months with regular income shown
  • Bank Books (photocopy)
If Sponsored:
  • Notarized Affidavit of Support (issued 1 month prior)
  • Sponsor’s valid passport copy
  • Sponsor’s bank certificate with 6-month statements
  • PSA proof of relationship

For Employees

  • Certificate of Employment (not older than 1 month)
  • Leave approval letter addressed to Embassy of Spain
  • Copy of recent Income Tax Return (ITR)

For Self-Employed / Business Owner

  • DTI / SEC Business Registration
  • Latest GIS (for corporate business)
  • Updated Mayor’s Permit
  • Business Financial Statement (last 6 months)
  • Copy of ITR
  • Certificate of Registration (COR)

For Students

  • School Certification + Student ID
  • Letter from school authorizing absence (if traveling during school year)
  • Detailed Day-to-Day Itinerary – Destinations and dates for entire trip
  • Confirmed Flight Booking – Entry and exit from Schengen Area
  • Inter-State Booking – If traveling to other Schengen countries
Note: It is strongly recommended NOT to purchase flight tickets before obtaining the visa.
  • Minimum coverage of €30,000
  • Must be recognized in all Schengen States
  • Valid for the entire duration of intended stay

For Tourists

Confirmed Hotel Reservations for entire stay in Schengen area

If Invited by Family/Friend

  • Invitation letter issued by Spanish Police, OR
  • Invitation letter + sponsor’s passport/D.N.I. copy + residence card + registration of residency (“empadronamiento”)
  • If Single: PSA Birth Certificate
  • If Married: PSA Birth Certificate + PSA Marriage Certificate
  • If Widowed: PSA Birth Certificate + Marriage Certificate + Death Certificate of spouse
  • Non-Filipino Applicants: ACR/ICR valid 3 months beyond departure date
  • PSA Birth Certificate (original required for minors)
  • If traveling alone or with one parent: Written consent from non-traveling parent/guardian OR proof of sole custody
  • Copy of bio page of parent(s) or legal guardian’s passport
  • DSWD Clearance – If traveling alone
  • Certificate of Leave Absence – If traveling during school year

Note: If father’s name doesn’t appear in PSA birth certificate, no consent is required.

Marriage contract issued not more than 6 months before submission, recognized by the corresponding EU Government. PSA marriage certificate must be authenticated by DFA. Only EU Government-recognized marriages are free of charge.

  1. Determine the type of visa you are applying for
  2. Schedule an appointment – Fill up application form, submit passport bio page copy, pay visa fee
  3. Prepare visa requirements and submit at least 2 weeks prior to appointment
  4. Visit BLS Spain Visa Application Centre to provide biometrics
  5. Wait for passport release

  • Philippine Passport Holders with Foreign Residency: Must apply in country where you normally reside most part of the year.
  • Additional Documents: May be required in some cases, which may prolong processing time.
  • Warning: Suppression of facts or furnishing false information will result in visa denial without any reason given.
