Welcome to this incredible 7-day Great Britain Escapade! Today, head to the English countryside for fresh air and scenic landscapes. Arrive in Cambridge and embark on a punting trip along the river in a traditional riverboat, taking in the stunning scenery and historic buildings in the most relaxing way. The final stop for the day is York. This city is a mecca for history buffs and lovers of fine architecture and culture. Discover the medieval heart of York. Wander the streets of a city with a rich history that dates back to the time of the Romans, Vikings, and Normans. Visit some of York’s fascinating museums, and the stunning York Minster, or just lose yourself in the maze of narrow streets of shambles. Overnight in York.

Depart York and arrive at today’s first stop: the impressive Angel of the North statue. The tour continues towards Hadrian’s Wall. An ancient Roman fortification built in 122 AD during Emperor Hadrian’s reign. You have time to walk beside the wall and experience the isolation that Roman foot soldiers would have experienced as they guarded their empire from the ‘barbarians’ to the north. Not too far away lies the border town of Jedburgh, famed for its links to royalty and historical warfare. Visit this Scottish border town and take in the amazing architecture. Travel on through Scotland - the capital city is waiting! Overnight in Edinburgh.

Explore central Edinburgh, starting in the 200-year-old “New Town” with planned streets and elegant Georgian houses where many famous writers and inventors lived. See the Royal Mile with its narrow medieval houses, then tour Edinburgh Castle to see the Crown Jewels of Scotland and the Stone of Destiny. Views of the elegant Palace of Holyrood house, in the shadow of Arthur’s Seat, and the Scottish Parliament feature on your sightseeing tour with a Local Specialist. Admire the elegant Georgian architecture in the New Town and amble through the hidden passages of the Old Town before enjoying an evening at leisure. Overnight in Edinburgh.

Just over halfway through this Great Britain tour, it’s time to journey into the Scottish Highlands. The first stop is the historic Culloden Battlefield. Next, visit Loch Ness - home to the mythical Loch Ness monster. During the visit, join an optional one-hour Loch Ness cruise, take in the impressive ruins of Urquhart Castle and see if you can spy ‘Nessie’ in the water! Once back on the road, spot Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest mountain. Whilst in the region, visit one of Scotland’s oldest, licensed whisky distilleries in Fort William for a distillery tour and whisky tasting. Overnight in Forth William.

Journey onwards to the Glenfinnan Viaduct which is known to many as the "Harry Potter Bridge" where the Jacobite Steam Train, the Hogwarts Express, passes during the parts of the year when it is running. Drive through the rugged landscapes to Glencoe, where James Bonds' Skyfall was filmed. See the backdrop to some scenes from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Pause here for photos and to learn about the history of Glencoe, including the massacre of the MacDonald clan in 1692. Discover the legends and secrets of the islands of Loch Lomond on this cruise from Alexandria. Learn the history and the legends of Loch Lomond and the surrounding areas, while enjoying some of Scotland's most spectacular scenery. Explore the middle island of Loch Lomond, sail through an area known to locals as "The Narrows", and continue onwards to the village of Luss. Overnight in Glasgow.

Today, travel towards Liverpool, home of The Beatles and world-famous football clubs! En route, drive through Gretna Green. The Famous Blacksmiths Shop, situated at the heart of Gretna Green village, is the world-famous, historic home of the anvil wedding and has been at the centre of runaway love, since the Marriage Act of 1754. Discover the wonderful scenery of the Lake District, Enjoy a scenic boat cruise on Enjoy a scenic Lake cruise at Ullswater and visits the charming villages of Windermere. Continue to Liverpool, The Birthplace of Beatle’s. See the Beatles childhood homes, schools and colleges and get up close to places that inspired some of their most memorable songs – Penny Lane and Strawberry Field. Overnight in Liverpool.

Our last day starts at Warwick Castle, home of the Kingmaker whose story you’ll see, hear and smell about! Step back into the middle age to see a bowman in action beneath the battlements of the castle and see the mighty trebuchet in action. A short drive takes us to Stratford Upon Avon, the home of William Shakespeare. Here we will drive through the town seeing some of the sites associated with the Bard including Holy Trinity where he was baptised and buried, the school he attended and the home he was born in. Drive through the Cotswolds, as you enjoy views of the lovely landscape and stone villages. A designated area of outstanding natural beauty, this is the English countryside at its finest. Overnight in London.
